IIHS Safety Picks: 2017 Chevrolet Volt, Bolt, and Malibu
Where do you place safety ratings on your list of new Chevrolet priorities? If they rank high, you might want to take a look at the trio of 2017 Chevy models that earned high ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Both the 2017 Chevy Malibu and Bolt earned TOP SAFETY PICK status from the IIHS while the Volt earned a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating.
Wondering what that means, exactly?
In order for a vehicle to be named a TOP SAFETY PICK, it must pass IIHS safety tests with flying colors. A "good" rating in five different crash tests and an "advanced" or "superior" rating for forward collision prevention will earn a vehicle the title.
If a vehicle passes these tests and also earns an "acceptable" or "good" rating for the effectiveness of its headlights, it achieves a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating.
